Registered Dietitians (RDs) at UHN are registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario, the provincial regulatory body. The practice of dietetics and nutrition at UHN adheres to the standards of care and conduct, as mandated by this organization. Registered Dietitians at UHN also hold membership with Dietitians of Canada, our national organization.
All RDs at UHN are authorized to write and revise diet and tube feeding orders to facilitate medical nutrition therapy. RDs within certain programs are also authorized to order multivitamins with minerals.
Several RDs at UHN hold additional professional credentials, such as "Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE)" with the Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification Board, "Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC)" with the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and "Certified Specialist in Oncology (CSO)" with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
