Meet the Staff
David Prowten, Executive Director and Board Secretary
In May 2010, Dave joined the Foundation, following several years in senior management roles in the not-for profit sector, and working in the packaged goods field at the start of his career. Arthritis has been a large part of his personal life experience and he is committed to increasing the funding for research, so that one day, we can say we have beat arthritis.
Joy Davidson, Director of Development
Joy joined the Foundation in April 2009, having worked in the not-for-profit sector for over 10 years in increasingly senior positions with experience in development, project management, marketing, human resources and information technology. At AARCF Joy is responsible for Leadership and Major Gifts. Joy is active in her community and has been a member of various local and community boards.
Jennifer Marczak, Events Manager
Jennifer joined the AARCF team in March 2010 with many years of event experience in corporate and non profit sectors. She has directed projects ranging from school and community playground builds to client service management under the big top at SkyDome. Delighted to be part of the Foundation and the larger University Health Network family, Jennifer will focus on existing events such as Day at the Races and plans to add internal and third party events. Outside AARCF Jennifer can be found at equestrian events, swimming, boxing and travelling with her family.
Emily Shandruk, Event Manager Power of Movement
Emily joined the Foundation in the Spring of 2010, having worked in the non-profit sector for two years as an Events Manager. Emily has been involved with events big and small; from 5k charity walks to black tie Galas. Since 2009, Emily has been the Vancouver lead on the Power of Movement and is extremely excited to be involved with the event in a much bigger way. Emily is committed to dispelling the myths that surround arthritis and autoimmune diseases, through events like the Power of Movement. Emily also enjoys running, practicing yoga, spending time with friends and family and getting lost in a good Douglas Coupland book.
Katherine Vidanes, Operations Coordinator
Katherine joined the Foundation in November 2009. She has worked in the public sector and in the retail industry. Katherine provides administrative assistance to the staff ensuring smooth operation. In addition, she is taking courses in college to be a certified Executive Assistant. In her spare time, Katherine likes to ride her bike, swim, and read. She also enjoys the great outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. |
