Welcome to the Arthritis Research Foundation
![]()
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Arthritis Research Foundation web site. Our mission is to raise funds for world leading research into arthritis and autoimmune diseases.
We are singularly focused on raising funds for arthritis and autoimmune disease research to improve the lives of millions of Canadians. Through new technologies and a unique and multidisciplinary approach to research, the scientists of the Arthritis and Autoimmunity Research Centre (AARC) are now poised to make major breakthroughs in the treatment and prevention of arthritis. A truly collaborative approach, AARC researchers include internationally recognized experts from a multitude of world renowned Canadian and global centres including the University Health Network, the Toronto Medical Discovery Tower, the Rebecca MacDonald Centre for Arthritis and Autoimmune Disease at Mount Sinai Hospital and many more. The important role each of you can play means we'll be able to accelerate the incredible advancements being made through research, including in key initiatives such as "Imaging Inflammation" and "Women & Arthritis". There has never been a better time to truly make a difference in the lives of so many people. I hope you’re as excited as I am about the opportunities ahead. Please help us... beat arthritis! Marc Milgrom, Chair A note from our Scientific Director
Since becoming Director of the Arthritis and Autoimmunity Research Centre (AARC) in 2003, I have come to know and appreciate the breadth of expertise of the AARC scientists in basic, clinical and population health sciences. Our research collaborative, focused on arthritis and autoimmune diseases, is a multidisciplinary and the nature of the various programs distinguishes AARC as unique and comprehensive. AARC scientists have played prominent roles in shaping Canadian health care policies, in developing surgical and drug intervention strategies for the treatment of arthritis and autoimmune disorders, and in providing insights in to the pathogenesis of these diseases.
