​​Brian Kautz isn’t just a medical and clinical photographer at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre – he’s also a cancer survivor himself.

In 2005, Brian was diagnosed with colon cancer. He went through two surgeries and several months of chemotherapy.

He’s been cancer-free ever since.

Since Brian had cancer, he can relate to the patients he sees every day.He knows the courage they have because he needed it himself.

Brian shares his story with some of the patients and family members he meets. Working at Princess Margaret and having gone through treatment, Brian strives to make these new patients feel at ease give them comfort.
