Palliative Care for the Non-Specialist Workshop -
April 30, 2010

Date: April 30, 2010
Location: Health Sciences Building, University of Toronto, 155 College Street, 6th Floor

All health care professionals should be able to provide good general palliative care to patients with life-limiting illness and to patients that are dying.  They should also be able to identify patients for whom they require the consultation services of the specialist palliative care team on those patients that require our specialist input for complex symptoms or difficult discharge planning issues. We believe that this course, aimed primarily at improving the skills of physicians, nurses and other health professionals actively involved in the care of these patients, is a good way to achieve this at our local hospitals.

This course is therefore aimed at physicians, nurses, social workers and other health professionals that do not specialize in palliative care but provide care for patients with life-limiting illnesses. The goal is for practitioners to obtain knowledge in pain and symptom management and integrate this into their current practice.
