Practice - Nursing Councils

The UHN Professional Nursing Practice Council draws its membership from the three hospital sites with the majority of members being staff nurses. This Council works, in an advisory capacity, to provide leadership in developing processes and systems to support professional nursing practice at UHN. Members play a key role in assisting staff to understand, integrate, and communicate professional nursing practice at UHN.

Unit-based Councils have been established on the individual nursing units. Membership on these Councils is determined at the unit/program level and is representative of staff nurses (RN’s and RPN’s), Advanced Practice Nurses (APN’s), Advanced Practice Nurse Educator(s), and Nurse Manager(s) associated with the unit/program. The unit-based councils make decisions around key nursing unit issues such as care delivery, nursing practice and funding for professional development.
