We provide a broad range of care and 24/7 support to individuals who are unable to live independently as a result of chronic and complex health issues or traumatic injuries.
More and more people of all ages are living with chronic and complex health issues, such as diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease and Alzheimer's disease. Among people over the age of 65, 90% have at least 1 chronic condition and 80% have 2 or more. Managing these diseases can be challenging, particularly as we age. When medical issues arise, they are often complex. A person's health and ability to live independently can quickly deteriorate.
As well, traumatic injuries as a result of motor-vehicle or other accidents, or health conditions, such as a stroke, may leave a person unable to live independently and in need of complex continuing care.
We help people to recover their strength and mobility. We help them to manage their diseases or health issues to improve their overall well-being and restore their maximum level of independence. For many of our patients, this is a long process, taking months or years before they can move to the next part of their lives.
We also offer respite care for stays of up to 14 days in our complex medical units. Learn more about respite care.
At Bickle Centre, we hold specialty clinics on site for our inpatients. Health care professionals travel to Bickle Centre so that our patients do not need to travel to another location to receive specialized care.
We offer these specialty clinics on a regular basis:
The specialists in these clinics are also experts in working with patients with complex medical needs.
Your care team will arrange your appointment and provide you with the time and date, as well as arrange a porter if needed.
