Our service provides outpatient care at both the University Centre and Rumsey Centre.
Each year, 50,000 Canadians experience a brain injury. It can happen because of a car accident or a fall. Or it may be caused by a medical problem such as a stroke, brain aneurysm, brain tumour or cardiac arrest. Whatever the cause, a brain injury can be devastating and may lead to trouble in cognitive ability, moving, balance, coordination, speech and language, or behavioural and emotional problems.
Our service provides rehabilitation to people who have acquired non-degenerative neurological disorders. We help those with a brain injury work towards returning to work and to living more independently.
We tailor rehab programs to an individual's needs and focus on bringing back functions that can be restored. When that isn't possible, we teach people how to do things differently.
