We have created a special program, led by Dr. Marc de Perrot, for patients with known or suspected mesothelioma.
Malignant mesothelioma is a rare cancer that has been linked to asbestos exposure. This disease can occur in the outer lining of the lungs and the internal chest wall (the pleura) or in the lining of the abdominal cavity (the peritoneum). You may develop shortness of breath, cough or chest pain, or you may have no symptoms. Build-up of fluid around the lungs is also common.
There are various treatment options for this disease, depending on the extent of disease. Treatments may include chemotherapy or radiation therapy, possibly followed by surgery.
