Hyperbaric oxygen therapy uses 100 percent oxygen, administered at an increased atmospheric pressure. It increases the amount of oxygen that is carried by the blood, to areas of the body with compromised blood supply. Other effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy include growth of new vessels, optimization of white blood cell function, and restoration of tissue metabolic balance.
