Cancer Education Summer Student Learning Series

​Cancer Education has developed a new Learning Series for interprofessional summer students at Princess Margaret. This series is unique and the topics presented here are not commonly covered in a student placement.

Registration

To register for sessions:

  1. Go to Princess Margaret Cancer Campus eLearning (opens in new window)
  2. Click on Create a new account (below the login box)
  3. Choose "Cancer Education Summer Student Learning Series" under the Program dropdown & Click on Create my new account
  4. Wait for an email confirmation and click on the link
  5. Enter Enrolment key: summer17
  6. Once in course, register for events and view the Bio's.

All sessions run from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm. See schedule for dates »

  • Exception: July 21 and August 9 sessions will run from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Location

ELLICSR (Toronto General Hospital, Basement Level, Room B PMB 130)

  • Exception: August 11 session will be held on the 7th floor Atrium at Princess Margaret

TED-style Talks

This special session provides an opportunity for students to reflect on their learning experience and apply their presentation and knowledge translation skills. Students will present on the research they are working on and discuss what they have learned in the process. They will receive constructive feedback from their peers, their PIs and other cancer care professionals.

​Careers in Oncology Mixer and Top Summer Student Research- Award Announcement

At this celebration students will:

  • Receive their certificate of participation in the Learning Series (those who attended a minimum of 7 of th​​e 11 sessions)
  • Present their summer research posters competing for 1 of 3 awards (those who signed-up)
  • Watch as awards are presented to students who won the best Ted Talks and Research Posters
  • Be invited to participate in a speed dating exercise where they can meet many of the diverse types of professionals who work in oncology featured in the Careers in Oncology Nano video se​ries
