Welcome to the Toronto General Hospital Patient & Family Library(TGHPFL) website provided for patients, their families, staff and community members.
The TGHPFL website aims to provide you with current and reliable consumer health information and resources to help you to become health literate.
Health literacy is defined by the Canadian Public Health Association as “having the necessary skills needed to get, understand and use information to make good health decisions.” Having good health literacy is important because it helps you:
| • | Understand, control and better manage your health conditions |
| • | Make healthy lifestyle choices |
| • | Become active partner with your healthcare providers |
| • | Reduce the risk of or prevent certain health conditions. |
We trust you will benefit from the information and resources provided by the TGHPFL.
