Welcome to our Patient and Family Library website. The Toronto General Hospital Patient and Family Library (TGHPFL) is a part of the TGH Patient Education department and offers services to our patients, their families, staff and community members. The library provides carefully selected, reliable and current consumer health information for patients, their families, clinicians, visitors and other community members. Our library is easily accessible (with wheel chair access), bright, open and welcoming with comfortable seating.
Library history
The TGH Patient and Family Library opened in June 2008 as a result of the findings from a survey which asked our patients and their families how the TGH Patient Education department could best help to meet their informational and educational health care needs.
As a result of feedback from our patrons, the innovative TGHPFL is now located in a central part of the hospital, with easy access to reliable and current consumer health information and trained staff on hand to help with questions and informational needs.
Our vision is to continue to meet the informational needs of our patrons by making available information and resources that will allow patients to become partners with their healthcare team and enable them to make good choices for their wellbeing.
Library Staff and Volunteers
The TGH Patient and Family Library has trained staff and volunteers available to help with your questions and to guide you in selecting appropriate health information. Our library staff and volunteers are friendly, professional, respectful to the individual’s needs and differences and, will aim to meet your informational needs.
