DESCRIPTION

The Peter Munk Centre of Excellence in Molecular Medicine places a focus on 'personalizing' patient care by integrating traditional clinical information, including imaging, with genetic, molecular, cellular and physiological data.

The advancement of knowledge in cardiovascular genetics now allows patients with arrhythmia and cardiomyopathy disorders to undergo genetic evaluation to determine the molecular cause of their condition. This information is integrated with in-depth clinical information, including imaging and molecular/physiological data to provide personalized approaches to medical treatment. This approach is rapidly expanding to a variety of other heart conditions, including valve disease and aortic aneurysms.
