Dr. Michael Baker, Physician-in-Chief

Dr. Baker is the academic and administrative head of UHN's Department of Medicine, which comprises over 200 physicians in every specialty of medicine including cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general internal medicine, hematology/oncology, infectious diseases, nephrology, neurology, rehabilitation medicine, respirology and rheumatology.

He also reports to the CEO, the Board of UHN and the Chair of Medicine at the University of Toronto for departmental responsibilities regarding the quality of medical care, Education, research, recruitment, mentoring, staff development, and academic promotion. Dr. Baker’s career interests have included cancer research, medical and research administration, and an ongoing consulting practice for patients with blood diseases or cancer.
