The Neuroradiology Division provides diagnostic and interventional techniques related to disorders affecting the brain, head and neck, and spine regions. For this purpose, the division has access to the most modern diagnostic and therapeutic equipment which includes digital radiography units, 320 and 64 slice CT scanners, PET/CT, PET/MR, as well as 1.5T and 3T MRI scanners and two biplaner flat panel angiographic suites with hybrid OR and intraoperative MR capabilities.
UHN is a quaternary referral centre for the diagnosis and management of
brain and spinal AVM, dural AV fistulae and vascular malformations of the brain, head and neck. The
Toronto Western Hospital is designated one of three primary stroke centres in the Greater Toronto Area for acute stroke diagnosis and treatment. Our Neuroradiology team routinely performs stroke prevention techniques (extracranial and intracranial angioplasty and stenting).
Head and Neck Program is directly linked to the world-renowned cancer care program at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

Since 1990, Drs. Karel terBrugge and Timo Krings have organized an annual international Symposium on Interventional Neuroradiology in September which is attended by more than 200 participants yearly.
