This fall, surgeons, radiologists and interventionalists in the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre will begin procedures in the Multi-purpose Operating Room at Toronto General Hospital. The room is 50% larger than a traditional OR and contains state-of-the-art surgical and imaging equipment for the treatment of cardiac and vascular disease.
The MPOR is a result of funding from R. Fraser Elliott who made a gift commitment of $6 million to the Toronto General and Western Hospital Foundation in 2001. Of the $6 million, $2.8 million was directed to building the Multi Purpose Operating Room.
