UHN is on the forefront of caring for cardiovascular surgery patients. This includes developing and supporting innovative cardiovascular procedures. UHN is one of the few cardiac centres in Canada that offers VAD support.
Treatment regimes include short and long term VAD therapy. We are capable of caring for patients who require left (LVAD), right (RVAD)or bi-ventricular (BiVAD) assistance. The following manuals and information sheets give information on the protocols used within UHN to treat our VAD patients, specific information about different brands of VADs and transplant acceptance criteria.
