The Canadian Sports Concussion Project is lead by some of the nation’s leading experts in the area of brain injury and concussion.
Richard Wennberg, MD, FRCPC, is a neurologist at the Krembil Neuroscience Centre, and Professor of Neurology at the University of Toronto. He is involved in clinical neurological evaluation of the participants.
Charles Tator, MD, PhD, FRCPS, is a neurosurgeon at the Krembil Neuroscience Centre and Professor and Former Chair of Neurosurgery at the University of Toronto. He is the Founder of ThinkFirst Canada, a brain and spinal cord injury prevention foundation. He provides leadership to the group and is involved in the recruitment and clinical neurological assessment of participants.
Lili-Naz Hazrati, MD, PhD, FRCPC is a full time neuropathologist at the University Health Network and a CIHR-Clinician scientist at the Center for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases, University of Toronto. She performs the neuropathological examination of the brain and spinal cord.
Anthony Feinstein MD, PhD, FRCPC is a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and Director of the Neuropsychiatry Program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He provides neuropsychiatry expertise for the project.
Robin Green, PhD, CPsych is a clinical neuropsychologist and Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in traumatic brain injury. She oversees the neuropsychological assessment and provides support on diffusion tensor imaging, experimental design and data analysis.
Karen D. Davis, PhD is a neuroscientist at the Krembil Neuroscience centre, Toronto Western Hhospital. She is the Head of the Division of Brain, Imaging and Behaviour – Systems Neuroscience in the Toronto Western Research Institute. She provides expertise in the MRI brain imaging component of the project.
Michelle Keightley, Ph.D., C.Psych is a clinical neuropsychologist and head of the Brainfit Lab and an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy, Graduate Department of Rehabilitation Science and Psychology at the University of Toronto.
She provides expertise in the field of neuropsychological evaluation of sports-related concussions.
Sophie Soklaridis, PhD is presently works within the Department of Surgery at St. Michael's Hospital and oversees knowledge translation projects across the seven divisions of surgery. She is an Adjunct Professor in Health and Behavioural Science at Lakehead University and she will provide qualitative research expertise to the study design, data collection and data analysis.
J. David Cassidy, PhD, DrMedSc is an injury epidemiologist senior scientist at the University Health Network and a Professor in the Division of Epidemiology at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. He provides expertise in study design and data analysis.
Leo Ezerins is the Executive Director of the Canadian Football League Alumni Association. He facilitates interactions with retired football players and advises the project team from the players’ perspective.
David Levy, MD, DOHS, DipSM is a sports medicine physician and team doctor for the Hamilton Tiger Cats. He provides expertise in the evaluation of the clinical assessment of former athletes.
Carmela Tartaglia, MD, FRCPC, is a neurologist, at the Krembil Neuroscience Centre and University of Toronto. Formerly with the Memory and Aging Center, University of California at San Francisco. She is involved in clinical neurological evaluation of the participants.
Peter St. George-Hyslop, MD, PhD, FRCPC. Director, Tanz Centre for Neurodegenerative Disease, and Director, Toronto Western Research Institute, University of Toronto.
Pushpindar Saini, M.A. C. Psych. Assoc. specializes clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology. She is the clinical coordinator for the Concussion Project.
