Occupational Health & Safety Requirements

At UHN we value our relationships with the academic partners as well as the learners. We strive to provide a rich and safe learning environment and part of that process is to ensure that all learners have proper immunization. Please see below the Occupational Health & Safety requirements for all learners prior to placement hours at any of our facilities.

UHN requires that learners from all health disciplines have the following:

IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Measles (Documentation of 2 doses of MMR vaccination OR Laboratory evidence of immunity)
  • Mumps (Documentation of 2 doses of MMR vaccination OR Laboratory evidence of immunity)
  • Rubella (Documentation of 2 doses of MMR vaccination OR Laboratory evidence of immunity)
  • Tetanus / Diphtheria / Pertussis (Every 10 Yrs.)
  • Influenza (every Winter/Fall) (recommended not mandatory)
  • Hepatitis B – Proof of immunity
  • Varicella – Laboratory evidence of immunity OR documentation of 2 doses of Varicella vaccination
  • TB: Mantoux (TB) Skin test status
    • A 2-step TB skin test (TST) completed within 28 days of one another, at any time OR TWO separate 1-step TB skin tests (TST) if both completed within the last 12 months
    • If any historical TST is positive, documentation of a CHEST X-RAY performed after the positive TST is required
  • At least 14 days since final dose of a Health Canada-approved vac​c​ine for COVID-19

MASK FIT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mask Fit: Date Tested (must be within 2 years)
  • Mask Model/Size

Students will be asked to provide Mask Fit information to the placement office but no additional information regarding immunization will be collected as it is the academic partner’s responsibility to ensure compliance.
