Enza Gucciardi, MHSc. Ph.D
Dr. Enza Gucciardi is a Scientific Associate in the University Health Enza GucciardiNetwork Women’s Health Program. She is also an Assistant Professor in the School of Nutrition at Ryerson University. Dr. Gucciardi has an undergraduate degree in nutritional sciences from Ryerson University, a Masters degree in Community Health and Epidemiology from the Department of Public Health Sciences and a PhD from the Institute of Medical Sciences both from the University of Toronto

Dr. Gucciaridi’s overall research objective is to make a valuable contribution to the area of health communication and health services by improving upon how we transfer knowledge and skills to both clinicians and individuals. In doing so, we can empower individuals, families and communities to lead healthier lives. Her current research focuses largely in the area of diabetes management and self-care behaviours, and in women’s health issues. Her present research explores the differences between sex and gender in diabetes self-management behaviours and use of diabetes self-management education. She is also taking a qualitative approach to explore sex and gender difference by examining individuals “lived experiences” managing their diabetes. Dr. Gucciardi is also investigating how various methods of health communication (e.g., diabetes self-management education, various types of health resources) are being used and they impact on health outcomes among individuals living with diabetes.
