Shannon Gravely-Witte, BSc, MScShannon Gravely-Witte
Shannon Gravely-Witte is a Research Coordinator at the University Health Network in the Women's Health Program. Shannon did her Bachelor of Science degree at Dalhousie University in Neuropsychology, and her Masters of Science in Medical and Health Psychology at Leiden University in the Netherlands. Her main area of interest is in cardiac psychology. Currently, Shannon is coordinating a 3-year study funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research which is examining Patient and Physician Factors Contributing to Cardiac Rehabilitation Referral and Participation. Other research interests include illness perceptions of patients with heart disease, quality of life and depression, continuity of care, access to heart healthcare services, and secondary management of heart disease patients. In the coming year, Shannon will begin her PhD with Dr. Sherry Grace at York University. Her proposed research is to examine the rates of heart failure clinic referral and utilization by sex, and examine the factors related to heart failure clinic attendance; and to qualitatively explore perceived barriers to clinic utilization and self-management among female patients who were referred but did not utilize HF clinic services.
