Rima Azar, PhD
Dr. Rima Azar is a CIHR & OWHC post-doctoral fellow in the Women’s
Health Program at the University Health Network, working with Dr. Donna Stewart and collaborating with Dr. Rob Nolan. Her research focuses on how depressive symptoms effect the inflammatory processes and increase the risk for coronary artery disease in women and men. Her PhD at the University of Montreal, in the field of Developmental Psychoneuroendocrinology, investigated the association between biological markers of stress, psychiatric and psychosocial factors. She has studied the association between major depression and cortisol reactivity in teenage women and their infants. She has also studied gender-related coping in parents of children with diabetes mellitus.
