When a patient’s illness impinges on his mental health, or when a psychiatric condition influences a patient’s ability to recover from a physical illness, a psychiatrist is called in to consult and advise on treatment options.

The Neuropsychiatry C-L Clinic at the Toronto Western Hospital provides such consultation and follow-up for both in-patients and out-patients referred for a variety of psychiatric symptoms in medically ill individuals (e.g. patients with movement disorders, lupus, seizures, stroke etc.) as well as for medically ill patients with depressive and anxiety symptoms with neuropsychiatric sequelae and post-discharge delirium. Specific attention to sleep related disorders in such populations is provided.
