The terms in this glossary were derived from the medical glossary of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and are used with the Centre's permission

Hallucination – a false experience involving the senses, such as seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling or feeling something that does not really exist.
Hearing – A forum where legal proceedings are held. Hearings decide such things as whether a psychiatric assessment is needed, whether a person should be granted bail or what a guilty person's sentence should be.
Herbal antidepressants – herbs and botanicals used for the treatment of depression/ using thought to alter mood.
Hypersomnia – the condition of sleeping too much, especially during the day. Hypersomnia can be a symptom of bipolar disorder.
Hypomania – A distinct period of elevated, expansive or irritable mood, for at least four days, that is distinctly different from the person's usual non–depressed mood.
