Home Hemodialysis Unit
Home hemodialysis allows nephrology patients to undergo dialysis treatment at home. Patients connnect themselves (usually a large vein in the arm) with tubing to the dialysis machine.
There are two kinds of home hemodialysis:
1) Intermittent dialysis: patients dialyze at home every other day
2) Nocturnal dialysis: patients dialyze overnight, while they sleep
Our services:
- Provide six-week training program to educate patients and family members about home hemodialysis, including how to insert needles, operate machinery, disinfect equipment and monitor water treatment systems
- Operate a weekly clinic staffed by nephrologists, to provide patient check-ups as needed (patients visit on an occasional basis, usually every 4-6 weeks)
- Provide nephrology support to Dialysis Management Clinic and self-care dialysis patients
