Centre for Innovation in Complex Care (CICC)

Patients arriving in the Emergency Department, who are seen by our Emergency Medicine specialists, often have a number of problems, ranging from a heart condition (Cardiology) to complications with their chemotherapy treatment (Cancer).  Although we have leading experts in the fields of Emergency Medicine, Cardiology and Cancer treatment to address these issues, it is our Internists that manage a patient’s overall care (Complex Care) throughout their hospital stay. 

The Centre for Innovation in Complex Care (CICC) is dedicated to studying how to improve the entire process of care for patients with multiple problems.  Its purpose is to engage our patients and clinicians to identify problems with current healthcare practices and develop solutions for addressing them.  Innovative research and evaluation in a real clinical environment will allow our clinicians to utilize the latest technology to improve patient care.  Key linkages with groups such as the Ministry of Health and the SIMS Partnership will ensure patients from across the city and the province will benefit from the innovative research conducted through CICC.

Who We Are
Our interprofessional team includes patients, physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, researchers, and health informatics experts all dedicated to improving patient safety and quality of care.  These members are award winners, hold numerous research grants, and are well positioned to truly impact care at the hospital.  Please follow the profiles link to learn more about our continually expanding team.
