Where I could fit in?
The new roles in this program are outlined below. Some of these roles are currently available; others will be available within the next 12-18 months.

Patient Guide : provide psychosocial support to patients and their supporters in clinic/waiting rooms.
Peer Guide : a survivor who chooses to self-identify and provides psychosocial support to patients and their supporters through unplanned encounters in clinic/waiting rooms.
Mentor : a survivor who chooses to self-identify and meets a patient/supporter through planned encounters.
Patient Education Volunteer : provide support while maintaining a primary focus on meeting patient and supporter informational needs through patient education material within the context of the libraries.
Telephone Support : offer psychosocial support by responding to requests for a call back or respond to a call on the main volunteer number.
Form Completion : assist with the completion of forms such as ODSP and Trillium, while offering support for issues often triggered by financial and practical concerns.
Group Volunteer : provide support group leadership, and educational modules such as new patient orientation to hospital procedures, orientation to coping with the practical aspects of treatment and side effects, orientation to coping with other life demands/psychosocial impacts of cancer and treatment.
Volunteer Team Leader : independently and in partnership with HBB staff, assist with training, orientation and supervision functions.
Program Advisor : provide ongoing programming input, as well as assist with engaging patients/supporters to provide input so that this strategy can be of highest possible quality and evolve through the identification of new needs
