Michelle Lough, BScN
RN Case Manager
Michelle Lough is the Registered Nurse (RN) Case Manager who works with Dr. Norm Laperriere in his weekly clinics. After graduating from the University of Toronto in 1999 and gaining valuable experience working with hospitalized cancer patients (many of whom were patients living with brain tumours), Michelle accepted a position as a staff nurse on the Solid Tumour Unit (17B) at Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH). She then joined The Pencer Centre in 2000.
As RN Case Manager for Dr. Laperriere, Michelle provides follow-up advice about common symptoms and side effects of treatment, medication, and diagnosis, and provides counseling to patients and their families. She can help you set up appointments for tests, treatments, and referrals to other health care professionals within PMH and in the community. When you are helping to provide care for patients and families living with a brain tumour, you need to be aware of all of their needs -- medical, psycho-social and spiritual, and how they can best be addressed, explains Michelle.
