Dr. Normand Laperriere, MD, FRCPC
Associate Director, The Gerry & Nancy Pencer Brain Tumor Centre
As Associate Director, Dr. Normand Laperriere plays a major role in program development, ensuring that The Pencer Centre is at the forefront of innovation in patient care and brain tumour research. He has been on staff at The Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) since 1985, and The Pencer Centre since it opened, in 1998. During his distinguished career, Dr. Laperriere has become one of the pre-eminent radiation oncologists in the country, and an expert in the treatment of patients living with brain tumours. There are few physicians in Canada who treat more brain tumour patients annually than Dr. Laperriere.
In addition to providing treatment to his patients at the Pencer Centre, he is the Central Nervous System Site Group Leader at PMH, and the director of one of the busiest stereotactic radiation therapy programs in the world. He is involved in the teaching and training of medical students, residents, and fellows; has authored or co-authored numerous publications, primarily on the treatment of brain tumours; and is a regular speaker at many national and international medical conferences.
