Art Therapist

The art therapy group sessions at The Pencer Centre are available to patients who have been living with brain tumours for a number of years, as well as those recently diagnosed. Art therapy provides patients with an essential outlet for expressing their response to their illness, while at the same time affirming their individual strengths and creativity.

Gilda Grossman has led art therapy groups at The Gerry & Nancy Pencer Brain Tumor Centre at Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) since 1999. She has been an Art Therapy practitioner for over 20 years, working with children, adolescents and adults. Gilda is also the director of the Toronto Art Therapy Institute, which offers a two-year diploma program in Art Therapy. Prior to working at The Pencer Centre, Gilda facilitated art therapy groups for individuals diagnosed with cancer in community-based settings. The Robert Pope Foundation, named after the gifted Canadian artist, acknowledged her for her pioneering work in art therapy.
