Ontario’s first cardiac stem cell transplant performed at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre
PMCC physicians performed the first cardiac stem cell transplant in Ontario last week using stem cells derived from the patient’s own bone marrow, isolated completely within the operating room, and implanted into the heart at the time of coronary bypass surgery. More>>
Prostate cancer study proves drug delays disease progression
An international study, led by UHN's Dr. Neil Fleshner, shows that men with low-risk, localized prostate cancer, can delay disease progression and the initiation of active treatment, with the drug dutasteride ("Avodart"). More>>
